British Values

The Department for Education have reinforced the need “to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote fundamental British Values”. The Government set out its definition of these values in the 2011 Prevent Strategy, and these values were reinforced in 2014.

These values fall into the following broad areas:

1. Democracy

2. The rule of law

3. Individual liberty

4. Mutual respect

5. Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

As well as being a specific focus of lessons in our SMSC, we aim to instil these values in our pupils as we help them to develop into mature and respectful members of our community through our bespoke and holistic approach to learning and support.
